Austin W. Maguire, of Laurel, MD passed away on November 26, 2015 at Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, MD after a brief illness. Austin was born on July 22, 1937 in Scranton, PA to the late Austin G. Maguire and Rose Kelly Maguire. Also predeceased are his brother Robert Maguire and his sister Joan Maguire Carroll. He is survived by his wife Patricia (nee) Igoe Maguire, his son Austin W. Maguire and his wife, Karen (nee) O'Brien Maguire, his daughter Colleen Aistis and her husband Mar Aistis, his son Robert Maguire, grandchildren Erinn Maguire and her husband Matthew Nuzzi, Megan Maguire Priolo and her husband Marco Priolo, Henry Aistis, Lucy Aistis, four great-grandchildren, nephews Robert Maguire, Patrick Maguire, and niece Kathleen Maguire-Stoudt, niece Mary Ellen Carroll Pierson, nephews Christopher Carroll and J.P. Carroll. Austin had a great love and respect for all of his family and friends.
He was educated in Dunmore, Pennsylvania public schools and was a proud graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1955. He served two years in the U.S. Army, most of that time at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Austin was a graduate of the University of Maryland, University College and attended Johns Hopkins University and very proud of his time spent at both of these
universities. Austin was employed by NSA, Fort Meade, MD and retired from there in 1994 and later worked for government contractors.
Austin was a daily communicant at Saint Mary of the Mills Catholic church in Laurel, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2203, and a Fourth Degree Knight, chapter 383. He also was a member of the Catholic League, the Phoenix Society, and the University of Maryland Terrapin Club. Aside from his extraordinary love of his family Austin was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, especially the University of Maryland football, men's and women's basketball. The Maguire family is very grateful to HCGH for the expertise, care and comfort given to Austin.
