Dorothy Cecelia Murphy passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in her home with her loved ones around her. She was born to Ernest Frederick Sr. and Ada Marguerite Lassahn in the City of Baltimore on September 24, 1933. She grew up on Jefferson Street in Baltimore City and graduated from Patterson High School.
Dorothy met her husband to be, Carroll Thomas Murphy, at a Luther League function in Baltimore. They were married on June 5, 1955 and moved to the small town of Fulton. She spent her time as a homemaker and part-time bookkeeper while her children were growing up and later worked in a medical billing department.
Dorothy loved and was proud of her children and grandchildren. She also loved many pets through the years, with her favorite being her Samoyed Mac. She loved needlework, especially cross-stitch and quilting, making many treasured gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed watching NASCAR races, listening to her favorite singer Andrea Bocelli, working in her flower gardens. She was an avid reader and she loved a good yard sale.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased in death by her son John C. Murphy, husband Carroll T. Murphy, grandson John C. Drennen, and brother Rev. Ernest F. Lassahn Jr.
She is survived by her loving children Cara Drennen and husband Charles, David Murphy, Douglas Murphy and wife Stacie, Andrew Murphy and wife Sharon, Jennifer Waldecker and husband Billy, Dale Murphy and wife Kathryn, and cherished grandchildren Benjamin & fiancée Lexis, Ryan, Marisa, Katie, Abaigael, Emma, Meghan, Sarah, and Jacob. Dorothy is also survived by several beloved, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
