Douglas Lee Vartorella, 69 of Laurel passed away suddenly on January 14 after a brief illness.
He was born in 1950 to George R. Vartorella and Margaret Louise (Bryant) Vartorella of Berlin Heights, Ohio, an historic small town nestled on the shore of Lake Erie.
He retired from the U.S. Defense Department as a senior electrical engineer and administrator, after nearly 40 years of patriotic service to his Country. He was the recipient of numerous career-related awards.
Doug’s hobbies included geo-politics and various U.S. Defense Department Associations and Clubs.
He is survived by his loving brother, William F. Vartorella, of Camden, SC and numerous relatives in Berlin Heights, Ohio and environs.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, George R. and Margaret L. Vartorella.
Formal services and interment of his ashes will be announced at a future date.
