Edward J. Przybyla

On October 15, 2017, Edward J. Przybyla "Pollock Eddie" age 68, passed away peacefully at his home, after a courageous battle with melanoma brain cancer. He was the son of the late Rita and Edward Przybyla of Manchester, NH. where he developed his passion for horses from his dad, and worked at Rockingham Race Track in Salem, NH. in his younger years. He was a member of the Manchester Memorial High School band, where he played saxophone and would later graduate.

As a three term veteran of the Viet Nam War, he was a sergeant on the front lines in the U.S. Marine Corps and also palyed in the Marine Corps Band. When interviewed, he said he would have served again if needed. 

He then married Karen (Michael) Przybyla, his late wife of 44 years, who shared his love of animals. Working at Laurel Race Track and Pimlico Race Track, they belonged to the Maryland Jockey Club. "Pollock Eddie" worked out and trained many horses over the years. In later years he earned an Outrider position he enjoyed. In leisure, he enjoyed landscaping and golf. He will be remembered for his quick wit, gift of gab,and lending a helping hand to many.

He is survived by his sister, Lucille Hebert and her husband Donald of Hooksett, NH., many nieces and nephews and beloved cats.

We are grateful to the oncology team fo doctors and nurses, led by Dr. Gibney at the Lombardi Cancer Center of Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.

A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel. MD. 20707.Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions in Edward's name to Melanoma Cancer Research or the Animal Rescue League.
