Elisabeth A. Spendley

Elisabeth A. Spendley, age 87, of Laurel, MD, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at Brooke Groove Nursing Home in Sandy Spring, MD.

Elisabeth was the oldest of 4 siblings, born on August 18, 1927 in Straubing, Germany to the late Aloise and Maria Schidlo.  Elisabeth came to the United States in 1952 and settled in Laurel, MD in 1968.  Elisabeth was a homemaker and late in life she worked as a cook for St. Mary of the Mills rectory in Laurel for over 20 years before she retired in 1999.  After retiring from St. Mary's, Elisabeth took an active role in spending time with her grandchildren and travelled to Europe with her family several times.

Elisabeth is survived by her three daughters; Christine Simmons of Laurel, MD, Joanne Raymond (and her husband Jim) of Irving, TX and Audrey (and her husband Jeff) Krause of Brookeville, MD.  Elisabeth is also survived by her grandchildren; Michael (and his wife Faith) Simmons, Lisa (and her husband Keith) Ridgely, Zachary Raymond, Ethan Krause, Haley Krause and Colin Krause and great grandchildren Austin and Peyton Ridgely.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Mills Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
