Frederick Carl Heyer

Frederick Carl Heyer, a longtime Laurel resident, passed away on August 28, 2017 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.  He was 69.  He was born January 5, 1948 to the late Frederick Julius and Marguerite Josephine Heyer in New York.  He graduated in 1966 from Bayside High School in Queens, New York.  After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist.  From the Navy, he went on to be a self-employed auto mechanic for 15 years then managed the service department at Darcars.  Frederick enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks.  His latest restoration was a 1930 Model A Ice Cream truck.  He enjoyed being with his friends in the Model A Club and going to Burtonsville on Sunday mornings and hanging out with his friends and their antique cars over coffee. He also enjoyed flying and held a private pilot’s license.    

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Mary Heyer in 2002 and his brother Peter Heyer.  He is survived by his loving children Morgan, Brian, and Elizabeth Heyer; siblings Eileen Hark and her husband William, Peggy Weisent and her husband Frank, Thomas Heyer and his husband Larry, and Paul Heyer and his wife Noreen.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Denise Heyer and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
