Helen Virginia Matchett

Helen Virginia Matchett, 62, a longtime resident of Laurel, Maryland passed away on April 5, 2015.  She will be deeply missed.  She was born on May 18, 1952 in Rockville, Maryland to George Allen, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Dehn) Bender. 

Helen’s world revolved around her family.  She loved her sons and grandchildren with all her heart and enjoyed spending time with them as well as her many siblings, other family members and friends.  She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and caring for family members and friends.  She also enjoyed music, bingo, crossword puzzles, watching football and helping the elderly and disabled.  Helen was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. 

In addition to her mother, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved sister Sharon Montieth.  She is survived by her father George Allen, Sr. and step-mother Kathy Borras; children Harry Matchett, Jr. and his wife Melissa and David Matchett and his wife Katie; ex-husband Harry Matchett; special companion Charles Dabbs; siblings George Allen, Jr., Robert Allen, William “Billy” Allen, John Allen, Linda Ritch, Barbara Allen, Jessica Allen, Robert Bender, Steve Bender, Lynn Bender, Sue Mahone, Sherry Brown, and Angie Borras-Mackey; grandchildren Jacob, Michael, Aubri and Leyla; brother-in-laws Greg Alton and Joseph Brown; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is also survived by someone she considered to be her family, Dr. Satish Angra and his wife Rohini.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 2-4 pm at Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 where funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm.
