August 14, 1941 ~ February 12, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

James Francis Fisher, 75, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning, February 12, at home.

He was born August 14, 1941 to David Merrill and Margaret Kraeski Fisher, both natives of Laurel, in Takoma Park, MD.

Jim attended Saint Mildred’s Academy and Pallotti High School, and was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church on 8th Street in Laurel. He was a devoted parishioner at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Jessup, MD, until his death. He loved bowling and black powder shooting, had a vast knowledge of trains and rolling stock and subscribed to Railpace, and was a 50-year Veteran of the North-South Skirmish Association. His wide circle of friends included those from his life-long bowling, the Skirmish Association, church, local Laurelites and school friends, the printing industry, and anyone who had a minute or a couple of hours to talk.

At the age of 15, he was hired by Quality Printing on Main Street, Laurel, and continued working for that company after he finished his apprenticeship and they moved to Rt. 1 and Compton Avenue. He also worked at Guardian Press and K & W Finishing in Baltimore for many years. He continued working for Dingle Printing in Laurel, K & W, Compton Printing on Brock Bridge Road, Bethesda Engravers, Allied Binding, and Distinctive Stationary Company and was at work the Friday before he died.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Llewellyn Fisher of Laurel; his daughter, Laurel, his sister, Catherine Fisher Chahrour, his brother, Joseph Fisher, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
