In Loving Memory of James Conley Jestes Sr.

James Conley Jestes Sr., 61 of Laurel passed away from Leukemia and COPD with his children and family by his side on  February 9, 2018.

He was born on November 10, 1956 to Joseph E. Jestes Sr. and Maryland E. Jestes in Laurel, Maryland. 

Jim was a graduate of Laurel High School in 1974. As a young man, Jim worked at Bart’s Barber Shop and shined shoes. He worked at Laurel Meat Market as a butcher from the time he was 13. He worked at Boarman’s Grocery Store for 22 years. His life was dedicated to his work and family. His customers were like his family too. He loved his job, it was one of the hardest things to give up as his illness took over.  JIm loved the outdoors, and he was a great carpenter. He was a great friend and very kind and helpful to all of his customers at Boarman’s.

He is survived by his father Joseph E. Jestes Sr. of Colorado, his brother Joseph E. Jr. of Minnesota, his sister Debra I. Leal (Gilbert Leal) of Colorado, his son James C. Jestes Jr (Hakima Haraji) of Florida, his daughter Kelie D. Tatro (Ray Tatro) of Florida, his daughter Casey Jestes of Maryland, his grandchildren Cara Jestes, Kyle Jestes, Adam Jestes, Kayla Tatro, and Ray Tatro.

He was preceded in death by his mother Maryland E. Jestes, his wife Patricia Jestes, and his brother Timothy Jestes.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Ave Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Monday, February 12, 2018  from 2-4 and 6-8. where a funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11am. A luncheon will follow the service at 8850 Baltimore Street Savage, Maryland 20763.
