John R. Roarty, loving husband of Lori Roarty for 50 years, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. John was born in Newark, New Jersey, on June 8, 1947, to the late Francis and Katbe Roarty. Mr. Roarty was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving proudly on the USS Kitty Hawk. After graduating from the University of Maryland, with a Bachelor’s Degree, Mr. Roarty spent his life in the banking industry. He worked for Citizens National Bank for 36 years and then for Tower Federal Credit Union for five years, where he ended his career before moving onto a very full and active retirement. John was a member of the American Legion, the Free State Corvette Club and was an avid pool player who played in several area leagues.
In addition to his wife, Lori, Mr. Roarty is survived his sons Dave (Trina) Roarty and Tim (Joanne) Roarty; his brother George Roarty and grandchildren Danielle, Luke, Chris and Shannon. He is also survived by his cousin George Kouri.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 30, at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
