Joseph Edward Pignataro, 89 of Burtonsville, Md. passed away July 14, 2019.
He was born in 1929 to Giovanni and Anna Pignataro in Bari, Italy.
Joe was a Past President of the DC-MD Home Builders Association.
Growing up in Washington DC, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and followed Giovanni into the family business of home building. He never retired, just changed his focus from building to helping run the family business, Pepino’s Trattoria.
His hobbies included playing with and entertaining his grand and great grandchildren as well as watching his beloved Washington Redskins, beginning when the team played at Griffith Stadium in Washington DC.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his in-laws; Mac, Betty and Margaret Manley, his brothers Thomas and Vito, his children; Victoria (Dean) Carpenter, Joseph Dino (Kathleen) Pignataro, Tina (Mark) Beland, John (Rhonda) Pignataro, Gina (Eric) Buscher, Joseph Bell, Joseph E. Pignataro Jr., Nina (John) Crist, Michelle (Jessie) Clancey, and Melissa (Jonathan) Boxx, his grandchildren; Josh, Anthony, Vincenzo, Jennifer, Charles, Savannah, Kiley, Shannon, Jessica Crist, Jessica Buscher, Emma, Garrett, Jaxon, Mason, Jonathan Paul, Julian, Jack Ross, and Mac Robert and his great-grandchildren; Ava, Arlo, Emma, Macynn, and Ellie Jo along with his many friends made through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Giovanni and Anna and his first wife Carol Ann Pignataro.
Services will take place Thursday July 18, 2019 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3315 Greencastle Rd. Burtonsville, Md. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. with internment at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
