Marianna Duvall Klopfer passed away on May 11, 2017. She was a Montgomery County native born July 18, 1934 in her parent’s home in Fairland, Maryland. She attended Fairland Elementary school, Silver Spring intermediate, and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in the class of 1952. She married Edwin J. Klopfer on June 20, 1952 in her parent’s home, two days after her high school graduation.
Marianna is the mother of four children: Edwin Klopfer, Jr., Robert Klopfer, Jean Pool, and William Klopfer. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Prince Georges County school system for many years. After raising her four children and residing in Lanham, Maryland for 37 years, she and Ed retired to Ocean Pines, Maryland in 1995.
Marianna’s goal in life was to be a loving wife and mother, and she succeeded beautifully. She was not particularly athletic, but she did enjoy bowling. She loved gardening, crocheting, boating, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She and Ed enjoyed traveling, including a cross country trip, trips to Ireland and England, and a few cruises.
She is survived by her husband, her four children, 14 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and one grandchild.
