Mary Ann Whitehead

Mary Ann Whitehead, a lifelong resident of Laurel, passed away on June 14, 2016 at Howard County General Hospital.  She was 80.  She was born on July 10, 1935 to the late Oscar and Katherine (Kaiser) Schooley.  She was a 1953 graduate of Laurel High School and then started her career working in Fort Meade as a Clerk. She eventually retired from Fort Meade in 1987 after 34 years of service.  She was a very active member in her churches, First Assembly of God in Laurel and Bethel Assembly of God in Jessup.  She worked with the Mt. Hope prison ministries at the Maryland correctional institution for women for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Shirley Davis and Joyce Owens.  Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years Tom Whitehead; loving children Kirt Whitehead and his wife Ellen, and Kim Galotta and her husband John; cherished  brother Douglas Schooley; devoted  Grandchildren Tom Galotta and wife Maruquel, Jeweli Galotta-Withrow and husband Doug, Jeff Galotta  and fiancé Chelsea Horvath  , Makayla Whitehead, and Gabi Jermann; Great-grandchildren Jazzy, Keaghan, Nathan, and Bianca Galotta. 

Visitation was held on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 1-3 & 7-9 pm at DONALDSON FUNERAL  HOME  ,P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD .  Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 11 am at Bethel Assembly of God, 9001 Vollerhausen Road, Jessup, MD 20794.  Burial followed at Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
