Mary Judith Sailer Hunter

Mary Judith Sailer Hunter, “Judy”, 75, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina passed away on April 7, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Sigmund Sailer and Nellie Cullen Sailer.   She grew up in Laurel, Maryland and was a member of St. Mary of the Mills parish.  Judy began a career at NSA after graduating from St. Mildred’s high school but left after having her second daughter to raise her family which grew to include six daughters.  Judy and her family moved to Kill Devil Hills 1986 to run their business The Dip and Deli.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking her family their favorite foods, was always available to babysit when called for and never asked for anything for herself.   Judy was also an active member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church. She greatly enjoyed musicals, cruises and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Hunter; six daughters, Kelly Fanto and husband, Stephen of Lewes, DE, Kimberly Clawson and husband, Eric of Clarksville, MD, Cynthia Shea and husband, John of Lewes, DE, Barbara Barclay and husband, Michael of Aydlett, NC, Susan Brinck and husband, Stephen of Lewes, DE and Stacy Thomas and husband, Karl of Lewes, DE; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Taylor Allison Barclay; a sister, Colleen Porterfield and a brother, William Sailer.

Relatives and friends are invite to visit at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Sunday, April 12th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Monday, April 13th. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Mills Cemetery in Laurel, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to The American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org/ or The American Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/
