Mary Lou Oertly

Mary Lou Oertly passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in San Jose, California. Born 1928 in Trenton, New Jersey, She lived most of her life in Maryland with her husband David Oertly. After the death of her husband in 2009, she was ready to go be with Jesus and with her husband Dave in her Heavenly Home, the promise of her faith. Mary Lou lived the last peaceful 3 years with her daughter in San Jose, California.

She loved teaching children about Jesus in Sunday School for many years at her home church in Columbia, Maryland. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, and cooking. Mostly Mary Lou loved her family and many great grandchildren. Mary Lou worked for many years as an Executive Secretary and was a valuable and trusted employee.

She is survived by her Brother Bill Cloud, her daughter Betty Sue Cox, and by her son Robert Oertly as well as 3 grandchildren; Adrienne Sumpter, Jeffrey Oertly and Jon Mark O'Connor and 14 great grandchildren; Brittany, Justin, Nick and Hillary Oertly, Elizabeth, Luke, Clay, Chandler, Charles and Leo Sumpter, and Jeremy, Spenser, Jonah and Grace O'Connor. A 3:00 pm viewing will be held at Donaldson's Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue Rt 198 W Laurel, MD 20707 on Sunday, November 12. A memorial service, with Pastor John Sumpter, will be conducted at 4:00 pm.
