Patrick M. Wrenn Sr, 69, died unexpectedly on Saturday January 24, 2015 at his 2nd home in Hilton Head Island, SC of an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Wrenn (Pat) was born on August 21, 1945 to the late Marshall and Bobby C. Wrenn in Washington DC and raised in Baltimore where he graduated from Calvert Hall High School in 1964.  After high school, Pat attended Mt. St. Mary’s College and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Economics.  He started his family in February 1967 when he wed the late Jo-Anne Wrenn (nee Wilson) on February 2, 1967.  They welcomed their first born son the late Patrick M. Wrenn Jr. on February 10, 1967.  Upon graduating from college, Pat landed a job in the Federal Government where he dedicated 38 years of Federal Service to the Department of the Treasury, Financial Management Services (FMS).  Pat worked in the Investment Branch responsible for the major trust funds managed by the Treasury.  In the early 1970’s the Investment Branch merged with the appropriation and legislative review function to form the Appropriation and Investment Branch.  In the late 1970’s, Pat became the Manager of the Branch where he stayed until 2002 when he became a senior staff accountant in the Budget Reports Division.  Pat also spent some time as the Acting Manager for the Funds Control Branch and the Credit Accounting Branch.  He enjoyed the challenge of interpreting legislation and establishing policy.  The work that he did was essential for controlling and disclosing the Federal Government’s financial operations.  His knowledge and dedication was recognized thought the Government. He was an extremely well respected man at the U.S. Treasury Department.  Pat retired in January 2007.

The Wrenn Family presided in West Laurel, MD for nearly 40 years.  Pat was a very loving, kind, supportive and generous man who worked extremely hard and provided well for his family.  He loved taking the family on trips to Disney World in Florida while the children were young and then to Hilton Head Island, SC where he had a condo at Shelter Cove Marina. He had a very close and special relationship with all of his children but especially with his grandchildren who he adored and whom adored him.  He enjoyed actively being involved with his children’s and his grandchildren’s various sports participation and activities. Pat liked to socialize and entertain his many friends on weekends at dinner, or in Hilton Head, SC at his condo.

Mr. Wrenn was preceded in death by his parents, father Marshall Wrenn and mother Bobby C. Wrenn; his loving wife Jo-Anne Wrenn who passed away from cancer in December 2002; and his son Patrick M. Wrenn Jr. and daughter in law Leia A. Wrenn who were both tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in October 2013.
