Peggy Ruth Fielden, a resident of the Riderwood Retirement Community in Silver Spring for 16 years, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at her home. She was 91. She was born on July 15, 1925 to the late William Forrest and Margaret Wella (Wilkes) Summerlin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years Harry L. Fielden, Jr.; daughter Peggy Joyce Lopez; brother Forrest Clifton Summerlin and sisters Frances Eugenia Viglione’, Margaret Ivylyn Dixon, and Esther Marie Young Swatzburg. She is survived by her loving daughters Martha C. Caruso and her husband Richard of Highland, MD and Phyllis J. Lanam and her husband Kip of Stafford, VA; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The first 12 years of her life, Peggy’s family resided in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she learned Spanish before English. When Harry’s job with the Department of Transportation took their family to Panama and Costa Rica, her fluent Spanish made her life so much easier. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 23, 2016 at 1 pm at the Chapel of Riderwood.
