Ralph Lowell Mlaska

November 6, 1926 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Ralph Lowell Mlaska, age 90, of Laurel, MD passed away on March 17, 2017 at Laurel Regional Hospital.  Mr. Mlaska was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 6, 1926 to the late Louis J. Mlaska and the late Rose Mlaska (nee Namestek). 

After graduating high school Ralph spent two years in the Navy, where he was trained in electronics and airborne electronics maintenance.  Upon being discharged from the Navy Ralph attended Nebraska University and continued his studies in electronics.  After leaving Nebraska University he began a long career in Radio that he transitioned into Televison.  He worked at several Television stations around the country coming to the D.C. area and specifically to Laurel in 1969.  Ralph ultimately retired from PBS.

Ralph was considered a “great bowler” and continued bowling until the age of 89.  He was also an avid Bridge player and enjoyed flying and spending time on his boat.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia Mlaska and his children, Nancy O’Berry (and her husband Michael) of Laurel, MD and Lynn Dubit of Silver Spring, MD.  Ralph is also survived by a brother William Mlaska as well as 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Mlaska and a brother, Louis E. Mlaska.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD.  Upon conclusion of the visitation the burial will take place at Ivy Hill Cemtery in Laurel, MD.
