I tried so very hard to be there yesterday, but due to some overwhelming family issues, I was unable to leave Ohio. My heart goes out to you, Mary, for I know the love you have for Gunny, and we all know his love for you and us "kids" seemed to be endless. May Providence smile and bless you!

Chuck and I entrusted our son Christopher Martin to Gunny Klutts' care as a Freshman in 1983. He and Mary helped our boy grow to a formidable young man. Graduated in 1986 as a Company Commander. Lots of memories and confidences were shared over those four years. Was lucky enough to reestablish contact with Facebook. Did my heart warmly to see he corresponded with Chris as well. RIP Gunny. You were a wonderful guide for young men.

There is no greater complement that to receive the respect and admiration from the Marines Ron trained and commanded. I didn't know Ron, but I know Mary and I also knew very intimately my US Marine Drill Instructor that introduced me to Naval Aviation in a big way! I'll never forget him and I know from that group that Ron was one of the nations finest and a great American!

I’m Still Here

I may be gone but please don’t cry
Death is not the last goodbye
Death releases me of my pain
There will come a day we will meet again
Don’t be blue and don’t be sad
Think back to the fun we had
I am always here I hear you speak
In time of trouble it’s me you seek
You don’t see me but I see you
I will do my best to pull you through
Speak to me and I will hear
Never far I am always near
Be brave my love do not cry
See you again it’s not goodbye

I was blessed by having this most special man and Mary and Jean in my life when I needed friends the most. He remained in touch with words of wisdom and encouragement. Heartfelt prayers of comfort are lifted for Mary, his family, and friends that he loved so much. Heaven's blessing.

Mary,

I am so sorry for your loss. While I never met Ron in person, I know from your many statements about him over the years that you two truly loved each other. He served you and his country well. Know that you are both in my prayers.

I recently connected with Randall on Facebook when he found out my daddy, John, was his first cousin. We spoke frequently and he brought joy to my daily life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially Mary, during this time of loss. -hugs-

I am so sorry to hear this. Ron was a good friend, but I only had the pleasure of knowing him for five years or so. Wished it had been much longer. The world was a better place while he was here. My sincerest sympathies , Mary, nothing I can say can assuage your pain, but please know you are not alone, for you, too, have been and always will be my friend. And I know you both are loved by many, many others.

Gunny Klutts was the epitome of a gentleman. He was a role model to all of the cadets at the Marine Military Academy. I had the privilege to be at the Academy while he was there and he taught us honor, duty, country and would be there with a sympathetic ear or a swift kick in the pants if we needed it. After I graduated from MMA and attended VMI (Virginia Military Institute) we drifted apart but reconnected on FaceBook. I loved the pictures of him and the dogs in his favorite easy chair and the condolences he offered me and my family at the passing of my Father. He was a good, solid and Holy man and I have no doubts that he is guarding the gates of Heaven. God bless you Gunny…you had a positive impact on my and many other fine men’s lives. Semper Fi

Remember Me......

Speak of me as you have always done.
Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.
Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be with you in the summer's sun
And when the winter's chill has come.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.
I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same,
Don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.
Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.
Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become.
