Richard J. Mazzuca, Sr, 84 of Laurel, MD passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017.
He was born April 9, 1933 to Anthony Mazzuca and Concetta Merante Mazzuca in Cold Spring, New York.
Richard (Dick) was a member of St. Mary’s of the Mills prior to moving to Charlotte Hall Veteran’s Home. He was one of nine brothers, simply referred to by family as The Brothers.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He spent many years after his retirement working in restaurants.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand children and great grand children. Watching sports and was a fan of the the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Nationals. His day was not complete without reading the Washington Post.
He is survived by children, Donna Makowelski (Victor), Michael (Virginia), Anthony, Richard, Jr (Bonnie) and Elizabeth Marth.Grandchildren, Teri Gosselin (Jared), Richie, Greg, Kimberly Aguenza (Michael) Robby, Chrissy Stowers (Justin), Sabrina Marth, and Laraine Marth. Great-grand children, Liam, Ruby, Reid, and Bella. He is survived by brothers, Bobby (Anna), Mickey (Blanche), Ronnie, and Billy (Christine), and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Woolridge Mazzuca, grandson, Joey, brothers, John, Joseph, Anthony and Philip, and son in law Victor Makowelski.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday at St. Mary’s of the Mills 114 St. Mary’s Pl, Laurel, MD 20707 Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
