Stanley J.Dyson, Jr. was born in Washington, DC on July 26, 1948, the oldest of 14 children born to Stanley J. Dyson Sr. and Janice (Murray) Arrington.  He passed away at Laurel, MD residence on Sunday, February 5, 2017.


Stanley accepted Jesus into his life at a young age and he started serving as a youth at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church where he often attended as an adult.  As a native Washingtonian he attended District of Columbia Public Schools and gradated from Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School.  He resided in varies places in the DC area before settling in Maryland.
Stanley began working at Handley Ford and held jobs with Fair Liquors, Shoppers Food Warehouse, the Seville Condominiums. Then he went to work for D.C. Transit which later became Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), commonly referred to as Metro. Stanley retire after 27 years of dedicated service with Metro.
Stanley enjoyed life.  He was a loyal Washington Redskins fan. His hobbies included cooking (famous seafood gumbo), fishing, collecting model cars, attending car shows and most of all he loved going out to dance.  


Stanley met his wife Detre Brown in 1998 and they married on February 19, 2010. She too loved dancing and his favorite pastime became their favorite pastime -- with Stanley often dancing with his wife from sun down to sun up.  Although inactive, Stanley also was a member of the Prince Hall Freemason Meridian Lodge No.6.
Stanley was preceded in death by his grandmother Agnes V. Dyson, stepmother Shirley Dyson and stepfather Lonnie Arrington.
He is survived by his loving wife Detre M. Dyson; parents, Stanley J. Dyson Sr. and Janice (Murray) Arrington; his children, Sean Gardner, Anthony Dyson, Ricardo Dyson, Marcus Dyson (Kim), Stacy Russell, Stanley Dyson III, ShaKia Robinson (Kache) and Phillip Davis (stepson); his grandchildren, Ebony Gardner, Anthony Dyson Jr., Tyteyabba Cooper, Alexis Cooper, Dasia Dyson, Justin Dyson, Shayla Dyson, Elijah Porter, Chloee Davis, Matthew Dyson, Na’Ziyah Graham, Dmitria Lee and Gabriella Dyson; great-grandchildren, Joaquin Dyson and Kaden Robinson; brothers and sisters, Larry Dyson (deceased), Sheila Dyson, Ricky Dyson, Kim Dyson, Gerry Dyson, Samantha Dyson, Denise Williams (Vince), Douglas Oliver (Deceased), Jacqueline Dunkley, Gary Arrington, Brenda Arrington and Linda Arrington; best friends Charles Brown, Francis Brown, Michael Millard, Ronald Bumpass and a host of other relatives and friends.  
 

Visitation will be Wednesday February 15, 2017 at 10:00AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM to be held at the Donaldson Funeral Chapel, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707.
