As I watched The Bills lose today I thought back to teaching with Steve at Gladys Noon Spellman. We always cheered or commiserated together on Monday morning. Both of us, and Jan too, we’re raised in WNY. Now I see that Steve passed away several years ago. He was a wonderful teacher and a great colleague. He was 100% a family man, coach, teacher and friend.
I’m so sorry to learn of his passing.

Ciambor family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have just learned that Steve had passed away now three years ago. He was a wonderful friend and confidant of my father. He was always kind and generous to my father as well as to me. Dad always spoke kindly of Steve and Jan and I'll always remember him with a smile. I hope that you see and read this now that the pain may not be as sharp as it once was. Bless you, Steve, Jan, and the Ciambor family. --Bill Kerruish 3 October 2020

Thank Mr Ciambor for everything you did at magnolia elementary. You also had a smile on your face and joy in your heart. You were the glue that held the school together and you are greatly missed. I hope to have the same enthusiasm and zest for life that you showed and carried with you daily. There's only one Mr Ciambor!!

Jan,
Lauren Wallace was kind enough to let me know of your loss. I know words are insufficient for what you and your family are going through. Please know many people are praying and thinking of you. Stay strong in the Lord and He will get you through.

Steve, aka Whitey, was first-class in everything he did. Terrific DB, outstanding student, and just an excellent person with a smile and personality that lit up any venue. Shared many unbelievable experiences at Maryland. So sorry to hear about his passing. My sincerest condolences and God Bless.

Steve was a teamate my senior year (he was a sophmore) . You could see him becoming a leader on the team. Pretty good Defensive back ,liked to hit like most Western PA guys. I spoke to him for the last time at a reunion in the early 2000 years , at a get together for our teams because of our relationship with Ralph becoming Head Coach. I was fantastic to hear Steve talk about teaching & Coaching -----I know he was happy in life doing those things and having his wonderful family. We are all better for knowing him.Rest In Peace

Dear Ciambor family,

I am so sorry for your loss of your husband/father. Mr. Ciambor was my gym teacher at O.W Phair in the 70's. Speaking for myself and I'm sure the rest of the students who had him for gym he was an amazing teacher. He made us laugh and made us feel that we could accomplish anything if we just tried. He will be sadly missed.

Our condolences on your loss Mike Scott & Jan, Steve was a great teacher and mentor to many. He shaped so many youth over the years. We were truly blessed to have his laughter, happiness and that push of encouragement to keep going further. To be the best you can at all times. To get that better time and break those records for so many years at OW Phair. He went out of his way to guide, help others even after being out from his wings as a teacher. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We were all truly blessed by this gentleman. Steve was an everyday hero of a man to emulate for so many that guided us into adults. He's one who contributed to make the world better to all those who crossed in path, a heartfelt blessing so many were lucky to have on this journey of life.

I am saddened to learn of his passing from this earth but am comforted to know that Steve now resides with our Heavenly Father. May this knowledge comfort all his family through this difficult time. Steve and I worked together many many years ago at Beacon Heights Elementary School where he was the PE Teacher and I was one of the secretaries.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Ciambor through Fred Frederick Chrysler for over 20 years. He would bring coffee in on Fridays, send us chocolates from New York and share stories about his grandsons. His greatest gifts to us all here were his kind words and larger than life smile he always shared with us. He was one of a kind and will be missed!

Scott, Mike: Your dad was not only my friend, but also my mentor and brother. Any problem I had, he would have a solution for it. As you guys have lost your dad, I have lost a part of me. My condolence to both and to my only sister. Please take care of her and any thing I can help you with call me. You all will always have a home down here in south Texas and in our hearts. I was fortunate to have Mr. Ciambor as my P.E. teacher at Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary. No teacher was more fun than he was. Waking up, knowing that I would have P.E. that day, was one of the best feelings. He made it feel like a 2nd recess, and the games and activities were always kicked up a notch with his enthusiasm and booming voice. I remember his photos of the Buffalo Bills in his office and the newspaper clippings he'd post in the gym, the morning after the Bills would beat the Redskins. My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends. Thank you for making my childhood one-of-a-kind, Mr. Ciambor. We'll all miss you.

Having worked under Steve for 5 years I was lucky to be around his positivity and thoughtfulness everyday. I learned a lot from him that was work-oriented, but it was his outlook on life and how he treated people that I was constantly amazed by. You couldn't help but be happy around him because he was just so great, on many occasions turning bad days into good ones with a laugh and a light shove ( Steve's "light shove" sometimes sent me halfway across the room because of his strength!). He was a great mentor and teacher and friend and will be greatly missed.

With caring thoughts we offer our heartfelt condolences. Without Stevie there is a huge void in our work family! No one could ever replace his incredible work ethics, his one of a kind genuine humanitarian kindness, the love and care he expressed for his family, and friends, and his infectious love for life. Most of all we will miss his singing "Oh My Darling Clementine", and his constant whistling.
