Wanda Mae Fitzsimons, 80, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away April 11, 2018. She was born on April 19, 1937 to Luther William Howdyshell and Cora Edna Minnich of Harrisonburg, Virginia. Wanda was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she served as (UMW) Secretary and (UMW) President. She also served as Lay Delegate to the Annual Conference and Worship Committee Chair.
Wanda graduated from Bridgewater VA High School in 1955. She worked at FW Woolworth from 1955-1959. She then worked at American Aviation Publication from 1959-1963. After 1963, she had dedicated her life to her family and children.
She enjoyed camping, bowling, working with crafts, cooking for company, canning at the end of summer, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
She was survived by her husband Leonard J. Fitzsimons and two sons, Kenneth W. Fitzsimons and Keith T. Fitzsimons. She is also survived by two grand daughters, Autumn Virginia and Alexis Michele, a sister, Jean Parker, and brother, Allen Howdyshell.
Wanda was preceded in death by her brothers Harold, Paul, Norman, Doyle, and Eldon.
Family time and viewing will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home on Sunday, April 15 between 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm in Laurel, MD. Services will be held Monday, April 16, at 2pm at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on 10755 Scaggsville Rd.
