Elizabeth Petza Obituary

Elizabeth Joan Kuchta Petza (Betty) of Laurel, MD, passed away quietly at her home on April 9, 2021, after a three -year -long struggle to recover from multiple strokes.  Betty is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Donald Petza; they were married on April 17, 1971.  She is also survived by her sister, Denise Kuchta Lovelady, and brother-in-law, David Lovelady.   Betty was born in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Albert A. Kuchta and Elizabeth (nee Weber) Kuchta.

Betty graduated from Seton High School in 1965 and went on to further her studies as a health care services professional.  She became a licensed radiologic technician after completing a two-year program at St. Agnes Hospital.  She furthered her studies at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.  In 1968, she was one of only three students accepted to train in the new field of diagnostic nuclear medical imaging at Johns Hopkins.  Betty went on to have a long and successful career in nuclear medicine at St. Agnes Hospital.

When Betty retired she enjoyed reading novels, was an avid Ravens Football Fanatic and cared deeply for the five furbabies that she and Don cherished over the many years – DonWan, Cookie, Baby, Breezy and Raven.
