George Tennis, Jr.

George T. Tennis, Jr., 94, of Laurel, MD, passed away on May 10, 2021.  He was born in 1927 to George T. Tennis, Sr. and Sarah I. Tennis.  George was a member of St Mary of the Mills Catholic Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy in World War II.  He retired from the Defense Mapping Agency.  George enjoyed golf, a good meal, spending time with his family and using his computer, iPad and iPhone. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty H. Tennis; children, Petchy Denison (Robert) and Cathy Muela (Fred); grandchildren, Terry Thomas and Julie Slater (Jason) and great grandchildren, Alexis Slater, Jason Slater, Nevaeh Thomas, Shelby Thomas and Kelsey Thomas. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph Tennis. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 18 from 10 – 11 am at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary’s Pl, Laurel, MD 20707.  A funeral Mass will begin at 11 am with interment to immediately follow at the church’s cemetery.
