Welcome to the memorial page for

Charles Albert "Bo" Floyd

October 25, 1935 ~ June 1, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Charles A. “Bo” Floyd, 81, went to be with his Lord on June 1, 2017.   He died after a short battle with cancer leaving his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of more than 60 years, Virginia “Sue” Floyd.  They were residing in Laurel, Maryland.

Born in Baltimore on October 25, 1935 to Mildred G. Thornton and Charles A. Floyd, Sr., he was raised by his mother and stepfather, John Russo, in South Baltimore.  Bo graduated from Southern High School in 1953.  He worked as a draftsman and real estate agent for the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company before retiring after 42 years.  He also proudly served for eight years in the US Naval Reserves where he visited some exotic places.    Bo was an honor graduate of the Baltimore School of the Bible.

Throughout his life, he was a devoted fan of Baltimore sports teams – the Colts, the Orioles and then reluctantly, the Ravens.  In retirement, he spent as much time as possible playing golf at Carroll Park in Baltimore with family and former colleagues.   His faith was strong and he was a very active member of the Grace Baptist Church in Laurel.  He also enjoyed the annual family vacations in Ocean City where he would be the first person on the beach and the last to leave.

Bo will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic nature and sense of humor.  He could always be counted on to come up with a good pun.  His passion and importance of family was demonstrated by his words and deeds.

Mr. Floyd is survived by his loving wife Sue Floyd; three daughters, Linda Millis (Arthur Sepeta), Karen Riordan (Dennis), Judy Phillips (Bill); seven grandchildren, Craig England, Melissa Callahan, Patrick Riordan, Michelle Kain, Matthew Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Andrew Phillips; and two great grandchildren, Sloane Callahan and Isaac Kain, a brother Thorton “Bud” Floyd (Pat) and 3 sisters, Janet Scally, Mary Aamold (Gary), and Mildred Bessling (Albert).

Mr. Floyd is preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Meek and Gladys Burns.

The family will receive visitors at the Donaldson Funeral Home,  313 Talbot Avenue, Laurel on Tuesday, June 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.    The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 7, at Grace Baptist Church, 7107 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, (Ritchie Highway) Baltimore, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Baptist Church, 7107 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD.
