-43 year member, 5 time Past Master, Catechism Instructor, Ritualist, Treasurer, and Secretary of Solomon’s Lodge #121 A.F.&A.M.
-Honorary Member of Howard Lodge #101 A.F.&A.M.
-Past President of Sourthern Maryland Past Masters Association
-Past Grand Inspector, Past Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Maryland
Awarded a Charter Membership in the Instructive Tongue Society by the Grand Lodge of Maryland for his many years of instruction to members.
-40 year member, and at least 10 times Past Patron of Esther Chapter #47 Order of Eastern Star
-Senior Hunter Safety Instructor Maryland DNR
-Life Member of NRA
-Co-founder with his wife of the Tom Oursler Sr. Memorial Scholarship for Cross Country at Howard High School
He retired from Federal Government Service in 2004 after serving in the following agencies: FBI, Dept. of Agriculture, Bureau of Engraving, and finally Walter Reed Army Medical Center as an Industrial Hygienist.
He enjoyed Hunting (anything), Golf, Camping, Baseball (especially the O’s) and coaching all of his kids.
He loved family gatherings so he could be with his family. Christmas was by far his favorite holiday but we think the family was the big secret there too. He attended plays, sports events, concerts etc. for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other unofficially adopted family.
He truly loved life and never quit loving life.
He is survived by:
His wife of 63 years Eleanor Gott Oursler.
Two sons Richard Charles Oursler and his wife Janet, Jeffrey Scott Oursler and his wife Michele.
Six Grandchildren and five great grandchildren
One Niece, One Nephew, two great nieces, and two great nephews
He was preceded in death by:
His parents, his sister Mildred Elaine Oursler Trevey, his son Thomas Carrol Oursler Sr., a grandson, and a neice.
Services:
-Visitation Thursday August 31 at Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel 2-4pm, 6-8pm
-Order of Eastern Star Memorial 7pm
-Masonic Lodge Memorial Service following Eastern Star
Celebration of Life Service Friday September 1 at Donaldson Funeral Chapel 11am
Interment to follow at Meadowridge Cemetery
