Born April 10, 1945 in New York, daughter of the late Julius “Jay” Karpman and the late Esther (nee Rosinsky) Karpman. She moved to Laurel, MD as a young girl and was raised on Main Street and Whiskey Bottom Road. Ettie worked most of her life as an Administrative Assistant for various Federal Government agencies. Ettie worked for NASA, NIH and the Department of Agriculture before retiring in 2007 due to health concerns. Before working for the Federal Government, Ettie worked in the finance department for several automobile dealerships in the Washington, DC area.
Ettie was known for her generosity to family and strangers alike. If she felt there was a need she would do what she could to fulfill it. This generosity especially extended to dogs. Ettie was known throughout her friends that if there was a dog in need of a good home, she was willing to take it. Ettie loved her dogs and treated them like her family.
Ettie also loved horses, especially thoroughbred race horses, owning a few thoroughbreds over the years. She enjoyed spending time at the Bowie and Laurel Race Courses with her trainer and “horsemen” friends. Several life long friendships started at the track.
Ettie is survived by her brother Donniel B. Karpman (and his wife Connie), two nephews; Lawrence J. Karpman (and his wife Anne) and Gregory S. Karpman (and his wife Amy).
