JoAnn Anderson Rodriguez

JoAnn Rodriguez (Anderson) passed away on March 22, 2018 in Jersey City, N.J.  She was born in Washington, D.C. on March 6, 1969 to Joe E. and Kirsten (Hoft) Anderson.  JoAnn grew up with her younger brother Eric in South Laurel, Md. (The Montpelier Community)

She played a little piano, she was an active soccer player and on Montpelier swim team throughout her childhood and teenage years. She enjoyed the travels with her brother to Denmark, visiting her grandparents. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1987 and from University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in 1992. After graduation from U.of MD, JoAnn moved to New York City and worked for a textile company as a textile designer and in marketing. The job took her on business trips overseas as to Korea and Japan. In the late 1998 until about 2010 JoAnn worked in the restaurant business, where she met her husband Joel Rodriguez. They married in 2006 and lived in Jersey City, N.J. until her death.    

JoAnn is preceded in death by her father Joe E. Anderson, her maternal (Denmark) and paternal (Wisconsin) grandparents.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Joel, her mother Kirsten, her brother Eric and friend Valerie, her aunt Birgitte and uncle Ahmed ould Daddah, W.Africa, cousin Cheik and his wife Karine, their children Ryan and Eric Daddah in Dayton, Ohio, and friends in both New Jersey and Maryland.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 3pm at Oaklands Presbyterian Church, 14301 Laurel-Bowie Road 20708. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oaklands Presbyterian Church (in memo of JoAnn Rodriguez).

After the service there will be a reception at Bob and Jan Ryerson's home on 12228 Shadetree Lane, Laurel, Md. 20708 (Montpelier)

JoAnn will be missed enormously by her family and her many friends. She was a very caring and warm person on top of being savvy and witty.
