Joan E. Kessler

Joan E. Kessler, age 73, of Laurel, MD, passed away at the Gilchrist Hospice Center of Howard County on June 2, 2017.  Mrs. Kessler was born on January 13, 1944 to the daughter of the late Carlton Bell and the late Elizabeth (nee Howes) Bell. 

Joan was a lifelong resident of Laurel, MD and attended the original Laurel High School on Montgomery Street.  Mrs. Kessler coached youth bowling at the Laurel Bowling Alley and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post 60.  Joan was an avid reader and especially enjoyed criminal stories and mysteries.  Joan was managed the compuers at Herb Gordon Automotive before her retirement in 2009.  After her retirement she enjoyed attending the sporting events of her great grandchildren.

Mrs. Kessler was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Kessler in 2014.  She is survived by her son Skip Kessler and his wife Tanya of Lost River, WV, a sister, Mary Ayers of Fulton, MD, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  Joan is also survived by her step children; James (Jim) B. Kessler of Baltimore and Ellen (Ellie) Green also of Baltimore.  Joan was also predeceased by a son Timothy Wayne Kessler.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
