Kari Lynn Copeland, a resident of Laurel, MD, passed away on October 9, 2018 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was 36. Kari was born on July 23, 1982 in Takoma Park, Maryland and is the daughter of Irene Copeland and the late Bryan Copeland.
Kari was an extraordinary young woman whose light burned brighter than most. She was generous with her time, energy, and her heart. She would give someone the shirt off her back if they needed it.
Kari had a wicked sense of humor that often led to fits of her infectious laughter. She followed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for years. She stood by her team with an unwavering ferocity that not even a Ravens fan during a good season would be able to muster.
Kari loved to garden, experiment in the kitchen, and going out on dates with her fiancée.
Kari loved to experience new things and was always up for an adventure. This translated into road trips up to New England, visits to her Florida family, and a long-desired family trip to Disney World.
Kari’s niece and nephew were the center of her world. She was the perfect doting aunt and they never wanted for anything while Kari was here. One of the greatest joys in her more recent years was being able to take her fiancée, sister and her two children to Walt Disney World, which created hundreds of memories that will last a lifetime.
Kari’s fiancée Ashley was the queen of her heart, and they formed an incredible bond with each other and their two beloved dogs, Vinny and Daisy. Vinny was Kari’s “little man” and she doted on him as if he was her own son.
Kari was a sister, close friend, and confidante to many. She was the friend who told you what you needed to hear, not always what you wanted to hear. She was a testament of the true definition of a friend and loved all of us unconditionally.
Along with her mother, Kari is survived by her loving partner of six years, Ashley Shields; beloved sister, Kelly Copeland; devoted niece, Jordan Gallagher; cherished nephew Gavin Gallagher and a host of loving friends and relatives. Kari will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Liturgy of the Word will be held at 7:00 pm. Interment will be private.
