It is with the deepest sorrow that I report the passing of my little sister Kathy (Kathleen Marie) McGinnis. No one could ask for a more amazing sister and she was also one of my very closest friends. Kathy died at her home in Laurel Maryland while fighting cancer. Everyone who was lucky enough to know Kathy recognized her as a wonderful human being: generous, kind, hardworking, thoughtful, clever, funny and with one of the strongest spirits I have ever known. Kathy had all of the best traits of both our parents and she demonstrated it in so many ways. Not content to be just an engineer or a scientist, Kathy qualified as both and successfully broke the glass ceiling in a male dominated occupation She also played championship winning golf in a men’s league.Kathy was a proud 1977 Alumni of McGraw Central School.
Jane and I are devastated by this loss. Kathy was simply irreplaceable in our lives and leaves a void that cannot ever be filled. It was an honor and a privilege to grow up in the same home as Kathy McGinnis.
