Major (Retired) Kenneth James Busic Sr., 82, of Laurel, MD passed away peacefully at home with family on September 13, 2017.
He was born in 1934 to Emory M. Busic and Marjorie G. Busic in Baltimore, MD.
Ken attended navigation school, pilot training, and missile school. He was a crew commander for the Atlas Missile and a combat crew commander of the Minuteman Missile.
He retired as a Major from the United States Air Force in 1973. Upon retirement from Andrews Air Force Base, he and his family settled in the Montpelier development in Laurel. He involved himself in community and local organizations and activities.
He enjoyed his military travels around the world, his home, children, and grandchildren. He was also an avid Redskins fan, by default, when the Colts skipped town in the middle of the night.
He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia whom he was married to for 61 fantastic years. They have four children: Cherise Blau (Lee), Jeannine Lyons (Dan), Suzanne Hornsby, and Kenneth J. Busic Jr. (Patricia); and eight grandchildren: Lauryn, Taylor, Corrie, Juliana, Bryce, Karly, Jacob, and Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Joyce Dawn Busic.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707. Funeral services will be on September 20 at First United Methodist Church of Laurel at 424 Main St., Laurel MD 20707. Interment with military honors will be Wednesday, September 20 at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075.
