Kimberly Kaye Hayslett-Smith, 56, of Laurel, Maryland unexpectedly passed away on November 1, 2019 at her home.
Kimberly, lovingly known as Kim, Kimmy, Matilda and Girdy was born to the late Edward and Patricia Hayslett on April 24, 1963 in Lexington, VA at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Kim obtained her education in Maryland public schools. She always had dreams and aspirations of continuing her education and was proud to say she accomplished her goal later in life. Kim was employed by Prince Georges County Public Schools as a bus driver and bus attendant for many years until her retirement.
On May 13, 1982 Kim gave birth to her Giant son, Shelby J. Hayslett and two years later on September 4, 1984 she gave birth to Aaron A. Johns. Kim loved and adored her boys. In 1999 Kim met the love of her life, Earl Smith Jr. at Giant. The moment Earl laid eyes on Kim he knew that would be his wife, because he was “focused”. On April 12, 2003 Earl and Kim professed their love for each other amongst family and friends.
Everyone who knew Kim knew of her love for animals. She was willing to rescue animals of all sorts, she also enjoyed spending time at the beach with her honey whenever possible, Ocean City to be exact! Kim had a strong love for her family and was always willing to help anyone out.
Kim is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Earl Smith Jr.; her son, Aaron Johns; Sister, Melinda Stewart; Brother, Kenneth Hayslett; three grandsons, Jordan McCombs, Lee Schmeltz and Ronald Johns; four nieces, Nakina Stewart, Tiffany Holmes, Norrie Stewart and Michelle O’dea Barth; four great nieces and four great nephews; a special aunt, Edith Herman; her loving Chihuahuas and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Patricia Hayslett and her son, Shelby Hayslett.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the chapel of the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 with a memorial visitation from 2 until 3 pm and a memorial service starting at 3 pm.
