Michael J. Cherer, Jr., 90 of Laurel, MD passed away May 31, 2017.
He was born in 1926 to Michael and Elizabeth Cherer in St. Louis, MO.
Michael served in the US Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant and was
honorably discharged in 1946.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from St. Louis University. He
retired from the National Weather Service as an electronic engineer assisting in the
development of first generation doppler radar. He enjoyed gardening and learning about
other countries. Michael was a lifelong baseball fan of the St. Louis Browns / Baltimore
Orioles.
He is survived by his children Stephen (Katherine), John (Jennifer), and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda and his son Albert.
Services:
Visitation Thursday, June 8, 10 am - 11 am, followed by celebration of funeral mass at 11
am at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, 8402 Brock Bridge Road, Laurel,
Maryland.
Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St.
Jude’s Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.
