Nevada J. Johnson

Nevada Joyce Johnson, 86 years old of Lanham, MD, passed away January 29, 2018. 

She was born on December 2, 1931, to Hylan Nivens and Lexie Rivers in Chesterfield, SC.  After overcoming the hardships and poverty of being the daughter of a sharecropper, she went on to raise four accomplished children and enjoy an affluent, fullfilled life.

Nevada retired from Retail Services at K&G Mens Warehouse Center. 

She enjoyed cooking, quality time with family & friends, gardening, sewing, soap operas,  a wide variety of music, fashion and had a great love for animals.

She is survived by her children Brenda Jean Cason, Walter Christopher Cason (wife, Stephanie Marie Cason) and Gary Alfonso Johnson, grandchildren Michele Alexis Minor, Ambrie Marie Jones (Derek Jones), Lexie Elizabeth Cason, great-grandchildren Miycah Adoniz Pindle, Khai Christopher Mclean, Kayden Chase Jones, Lee Avery Jones and Carter Amir Cason, as well as a plethora of niece and nephews.

Nevada was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Johnson, daughter Romona Gale Dunston and siblings Haywood Nivens, Sadie Coleman and Franklin DeWitt Nivens.

Memorial Services will be on February 9th, 2018, at 2pm, at the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707
