Patricia "Pat" Ellen (McGuire) Flynn

Patricia “Pat” Flynn, age 72, of Laurel, Maryland passed away suddenly on September 3, 2018. She was born in 1946 to the late Charles, Sr. and Ellen (nee Palmer) McGuire in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Archbishop Hallahan high school in 1963, she entered the convent and spent ten years teaching in the Parochial School system. During this period, she also earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Chestnut Hill College. She moved to Laurel in 1980 and worked for various institutions as a secretary, most recently at Murray Hill Middle School in Howard County until her retirement in 2008. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, quilting, and collecting ceramic cat figurines. She also became a strong advocate for the fight against cancer after surviving a difficult bout with breast cancer in 2003.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas, their children David and Ellen, and her brother, Charles McGuire, Jr. of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary.Visitation will be on Monday, September 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707.
