Peter Kennedy of Russett, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017 at age 84.
Born in Queens, New York, to the late Joseph J. and Anna M. Kennedy.
He graduated from Manhattan College in 1955 and was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy in 1957. Peter served his nation honorably for 24 years as a Navy Cryptology officer in Japan, Iceland, Vietnam, and the United States. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Patricia; son Christopher P. Kennedy (Betsy) and daughters Patricia M. Lazzaro (Chester) and Eileen M. Kennedy (Arthur); 5 grandchildren; Kathleen Lazzaro (Sarah), Angus Kennedy, Brian Lazzaro, Hannah Kennedy, and Aidan Warrington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave (Route 198 West) Laurel, MD 20707.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary’s Place, Laurel, MD 20707.
A burial service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
