Richard G. Johnson

Richard Gordon Johnson, 74 of Laurel, MD, passed away July 24, 2019.

Rick was raised in Park River, ND by his parents L.W. “Tookie” Johnson and Ruth Johnson.

He later moved to Maryland to attend Benjamin Franklin University School of Accountancy and Financial Administration.  He worked for close to 30 years at WSSC.

Rick was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and participated in numerous mission trips.  His hobbies included spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, and DIY repairs for himself and others. He enjoyed helping others gain confidence in their ability to do repairs for themselves.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, his sister Jill (Gary) Haakenson, his brother Kent Johnson, his children; Karen (Matthew) Airola and David (Dianna Belman) Johnson, his grandchildren Rachel and Allison Airola, two nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home,P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue in Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm . Further visitation will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 12430 Scaggsville Rd. Highland, MD 20777 on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 10:00 until 11:00 am prior to a funeral service being held. Internment with military honors immediately following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
