Robert Lee Jones

Robert Lee Jones, 73, passed away in Burtonsville, MD on February 17, 2019.

Born September 29, 1945 in Layland, West Virginia, son of John “Bink” Chester Jones and Mae Irene (Simms) Jones. He moved to Washington, DC upon graduating high school and worked in a variety of jobs before successfully starting his own home improvement business which he ran until the late 1990’s.  Robert helped to build his family’s home in Beltsville where he resided for 41 years.

Robert was a lifelong Jehovah’s Witness and served as an elder in several local congregations for years.  In his spare time, Robert enjoyed working on carpentry and automotive projects as well as spending time outdoors.

Robert Jones is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Marilyn Diane Jones, his son Brandon Lee Jones, daughter Tiffany Diane Jones, and brothers Shirl Jones and George Jones.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Zelda Jones-Martin.

A viewing will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Thursday, February 21 at Donaldson’s Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD 20707. A memorial service will be held at 12pm, Friday, February 22 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 15200 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD 20707.
