Roland S. Culler, age 87, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2018 at The Johns Hopkins Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Roland (who was known as Buzz), was born on September 15, 1930 in Fairland, MD to the late Roger S. Culler and the late Edna L. (Crown) Culler. Buzz was a member of the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Burtonsville, MD. Buzz served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Buzz worked in the construction field starting as a cabinet maker before being recruited by the George Hyman Construction Company, due to his skills in woodworking. He went to work with Clark Construction and retired after many years of service with them. Buzz will fondly be remembered by his family and friends as “Always giving and helping other people” and because “He loved to talk”.
Roland loved working with wood, especially oak, and was known to give away his creations away. Buzz also enjoyed taking vacations with his wife Vi.
Buzz is survived by his wife, Melvina (Vi) D. Culler. Buzz and Vi were married on September 28, 1957 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Culler and a sister-in-law, Nancy Luman as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Samuel Culler, his parents, Roger and Edna Culler as well as a brother Roger Culler, sister-in-law Edna Culler and a sister-in-law Jo-Ann Culler.
