Rosemary Grant Ronayne

Rosemary Grant Ronayne, a resident of Hedgesville, W.V. passed away July 5 at home. She was 93.

Rosemary was born on March 13, 1924 in Clarksburg, W.V. Her parents were Myrl and Estella Grant. She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing and Catholic University in Washington D.C. There, while studying to become a midwife, a shy busdriver caught her eye. Rosemary and John “Jack” Aloysius Ronayne married a year later and had seven children, Catherine Kelly, John, Robert, Michael, Patricia, Patrick, and Therese Ronayne. Rosemary is also survived by her sister Marlene Moore, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was a nurse at Washington Hospital Center for nearly 40 years, long enough to eventually work alongside her daughter, Patricia. She was a favorite of every cat and dog in the family, raised White German Shepherds and adopted an Indian Peacock. She named him Sam.

Rosemary was an active member of the Catholic Church, most recently St. Francis of Assisi in Fulton, MD. She enjoyed gardening and crocheted blankets for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 6-8 pm at DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10 am at St. Francis of Assisi, 8300 Old Columbia Road, Fulton, MD 20759. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.
