Shirley Kathryn Solis

Shirley Kathryn Solis, a resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home. She was 81 years old. Shirley was born on July 21, 1937 in Webster Springs, WV and was the daughter of the late Cornelius H. Williams and Lula Gay Clevenger Williams.

Born into a large family, Shirley was one of twelve children. She had eight sisters and three bothers.  She was dedicated to her family and friends, and to anyone who asked for help.  She worked in the health care industry and was hard working.  She had a great sense of humor and loved life.  Anyone that knew her knew how much she loved the slots!  She always left the casino a winner!  After her parents passed, she was instrumental in getting our large family back together years later for family reunions.  Family really was the most important thing to her.  After retirement, she enjoyed travelling to Florida and staying with family during the winter.  She also embraced social media by joining Facebook.  This way she could keep in touch with extended family and friends.  She loved seeing all the pictures that were posted and insisted everyone tag her so she would not miss any of them.  Her favorite pictures were the babies.  They always made her smile.  She loved her immediate and her extended family with all her heart.

Shirley is survived by her five loving children and their spouses, Barry and Melinda Thomas, Phoebe Thomas-Boyd, Cheryl and John Latham, Yolanda and David Penrod and Marina and Thomas Young; devoted sisters, Kathy, Carol, Pat, and Linda; caring brothers, Herbert (Smitty) and Harley (Skip); 23 cherished grandchildren, Scott, Duane, Amanda, Michelle, Sharie, John, Christopher, David, Richard II, Kellie, Meranda, William, David (Thomas), Lexis, Destinee, Michael, Anthony (TJ), Nicole, Ashley, Andrew, Kathryn, Thomas, and Allison; adorable great grandchildren, Colton, Bryson, Victoria, Nathan, Cameron, Michael Jr. (Mikey), Jake, Kyle, Tivis, Quiddington, Gabriel, Christian, Cierra, Camren, Destiny, Daniel, Mariah, Patience, Ariana-Fiona, Alexander, Drustan, Aubriella, Kyra, Gavin, Donovan, Alton, Rachael, Brian, Aubree, Evan, Dylan, Aubrey and Alyssa; and loveable great-great grandchild, Elias. She is preceded in death by her siblings Ellie, Francis, Joanne, Nancy, and Neal (Nick), her loving son, Benjamin (Bennie), her sons-in-law, Daniel Duvall and Anthony Hose, and her grandson-in-law, Tivis Bell.

Shirley is also survived by many friends who knew and loved her, both online and in person. 

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Road, Laurel, MD 20707 on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Interment will be private.
