Vernon Dustin, 83 of College Park passed away Friday June 28, 2019
He was born on November 22, 1935 to Norman and Virgie Dustin in Laurel, MD.
Vernon was a member of The College Park Moose Lodge. He was also, in his earlier years, very active in the College Park Boys and Girls Club and Holy Redeemer Church in College Park. He served in the United States Army for 6 years.
He was retired from NSA in Ft Meade, MD where he worked for 37 years.
He loved sports. He was a softball and baseball coach for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
And let’s not forget that he loved his Washington Nationals and Redskins.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Dustin; his children Kimberly Rahl, Karen Hemingway (Reid Hemingway), Kevin Dustin (Lusi Dustin); his grandchildren Nicholas Rahl (Becky Rahl), Jesse Rahl, McKenzie Hemingway, Delayne Hemingway, Garett Hemingway; his great grandchildren Sophia Hammer and Landon Rahl; his brothers Warren Dustin, Tommy Dustin and Billy Dustin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman (Doc) Dustin; his mother Virgie Dustin; his sisters, Maxine Snoots and Helen Wright.
Visitation will be on Friday July 12, 2019 at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
There will be a luncheon immediately following the Memorial Service at the College Park Moose Lodge.
Memorial donations may be mailed or dropped off to the City of College Park to the attention of Tracey Clayton; 4500 Knox Road, College Park, MD 20740 with a note or memo that it is being made in memory of Vernon Dustin for the Duvall Field Renovations.
