Annie M. Hawkins

January 3, 1932 — March 5, 2016

Ann M. Hawkins died Saturday, March 5th at the age of 84, a former Laurel resident of 48 years. Her parents Burrell and Emma Barnes preceded her in death. The love of her life, Bill Hawkins, also preceded her in death on February 1, 2013.

She is survived by her daughters Debbye Hulse of Columbia and Margie Beatty of Ashton,  grandchildren Anneke Thommen, Brian Haley, Hillary Hulse, Reanna Beatty and Tyler Beatty, son-in-law Craig Hulse and daughter-in-law Genevieve Pierce Haley and great- grandson Collin Haley.

Ann was retired from the National Security Agency after 30 years as a nurse. She was a volunteer member of Jessup VFD for 50 years, where she held both Captain and Secretary positions. She served on the MSFA convention committee. She was a member of the Jessup’s woman’s club and a member of the Eastern Star of Savage.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Laurel and attended N. Ft. Myers Methodist Church as she spent 6 months in Florida and 6 months in Maryland.

Her family will miss her deeply and request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Laurel or Angelman Syndrome Foundation.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Laurel on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
