Laurel

Albert “Al” Claxton, 81, of Laurel, Maryland, died peacefully at home on March 13, 2023, surrounded by family.

He was a sixth generation, Washingtonian, the son of Roy James and Agnes (Holderith) Claxton.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His biggest passion was boating on the Chesapeake Bay with family and friends. Besides boating some of his fondest memories were with his friends from youth in DC, who he remained in close contact with for the duration of his life.

Al was married to Ann (Higgins) for 26 years before preceding him in death in 1994. He is survived by his three children, Tracey (Glenn) Werner, Albert II & Scott (Kristin). His four grandchildren, Ethan, Cameron & Olivia Werner and Sierra Claxton. Al is also survived by his brother Ronald as well as multiple nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Beverly & Gradon Moore as well as his brother and sister-in-law James & Barbara Claxton.

In lieu of a memorial service, Al requested to be remembered for the many wonderful memories he created with family and friends over the years; the love, laughter and happy times.
