Alice Elizabeth Hitaffer

Alice Elizabeth Hitaffer, age 97, a lifelong resident of Laurel, MD, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at her granddaughter's residence in Annapolis, MD.

She was a member of St. Mary Of The Mills Roman Catholic Church in Laurel where she was active with the Ladies of Charity.

Alice worked as a telephone operator for the phone company in the early 1940's before leaving to be a full time homemaker. Alice was known as a "great cook" and enjoyed hosting large family meals.

Alice was the wife of the late James Melvin Hitaffer who passed away in 1982. She was the mother of two sons; James V. Hitaffer, Esq. and John E. Hitaffer, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Mills Roman Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary's Place, Laurel, MD 20707 on Friday, April 11, 2014 beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
