Amy Elisabeth Griffin

Amy Elisabeth Griffin of Laurel, Maryland died on June 27, 2026. She was 59 years old. Amy was born on September 18, 1966, in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and was a 1984 graduate of Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio.

After graduating high school her travels took her to Maryland where she began working for Amtrak in 1988, a career she stayed with for 38 years until her death. She held the position of president of her local union for Amtrak, which was a title she was proud to hold. Amy also enjoyed spending leisurely evenings with friends sharing a meal and fellowship, visiting the zoo in whatever city she may have been in, as well as frequenting the pool for fun and relaxation. She also enjoyed travelling the country, including frequent trips to Pittsburgh to visit family, and a very special trip to Oregon in April 2024 to visit her aunt and uncle; these trips helped her build a lifetime of special moments.

Amy was predeceased by her loving mother, Barbara Ann Reif Griffin; life partner of 30 years William French, and brothers Clay William Griffin and Eric Alan Griffin.

She is survived by her aunt and uncle Eric and Donna Reif; Cousin Brian (Sarah) Reif, and their children Eliza and Nate. She is also survived by friends that became family; Joanne Brown, with whom she shared 40 years of friendship; Amanda Brown, Bruce Warner, Calvin Johnson, and many more dear friends.

Relatives and friends may gather at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 7pm for a memorial service in Amy’s honor.
