Anthony Fred Landi

Antonio F. Landi, age 91, passed away on March 18, 2019.

Born March 24,1927 in Bronx, NY, son of Sabato and Rachela (Ruggerio) Landi.  Antonio lived in NY, NY; Bronx, NY and Washington, DC. and worked at MetLife Insurance Company in NY, NY. until retiring.

Anthony lived independently after his wife’s passing in 1999.  He loved to cook, especially Italian dishes. Anthony’s favorite pass time was watching old Gary Cooper movies and probably saw all 84 movies made by the “greatest,” actor that ever lived.  He also loved listening to Italian music.  Among his favorite singers were Mario Lanza, Jimmy Rosseli, Jerry Vale, Lena Horne, and Louie Prima, but the “greatest” was Enrico Caruso.  He could still jitterbug with his nurses at age 91, and loved socializing and telling stories about the depression and war years and growing up and living in Manhattan, and later in his beloved Bronx, NY where he lived until the past year.

Anthony is survived by his nieces, Rachel Case and Veronica Wingler, and nephews Franco Apuzzo and Michael Landi. Anthony was preceded in death by his siblings: Domenica Landi Apuzzo, Felix Landi, Michael Landi, and Guy Landi.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 25, 2019 at St. Mary of the Mills, Roman Catholic Church, Laurel, MD. Burial will be at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY at 2 PM, Friday, March 29, 2019. Relatives and friends are welcome at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Mills Church, 114 St. Marys Pl, Laurel, MD on March 25 for a time of visitation.
