Aretta Marie Lilly, 92 years old, passed away at Harbor Hospice, Dallas, TX on January 19, 2018.

She was born on March 27, 1925 in Pax WV, to Nova (Bowyer) Thomas and Henry Thomas.

Aretta was a long-time resident of Daniels, WV. She worked as a hospital kitchen supervisor, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was one of service to others, and she loved to prepare meals for her family and guests. In 2003 she moved to Silver Spring, Maryland. She was an active member of Columbia Primitive Baptist Church, and always enjoyed Church meetings and fellowship.

Aretta is survived by her son, James (Nancy) Lilly, two sisters, Roberta Ruhl and Shirley Buckland of Elyria OH, four granddaughters Margaret (Grant) Simmons, Elizabeth Lilly, Julia (Jake) Moore, and Anayah Lilly, one grandson, Jonathan (Nikki) Painter, and three great-grandchildren, Amelia Painter, Caleb Simmons, and Rosa Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Archie, by her daughter Margaret Painter, as well as by five brothers, Joe, George, Bobby, Raymond, and Alfred, and three sisters, Nora Mae Lafferty, Letta Lorena Blake, and Bonnie Britt.

Visitation and viewing will be at 11 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Columbia Primitive Baptist Church, 15900 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, Maryland. The funeral service will be at 12 noon, officiated by Elder Steven Bloyd, followed by interment in the Columbia Cemetery.  All are invited to stay for a time of fellowship and remembrance in the Church fellowship hall.
